Apt. Hardwood floor

Its cold like unmelted ice
When I lean against the glass
Looking past the barrier
The same that holds me back
A clean hardwood floor
Feels new against my feet
A creak of the wood
And This apartment speaks
Your eyes find me, heal me
After the wound of your words
A different type of wound
From words I herd before
Be better I think,
be better than before
But again I feel a creak in this hardwood floor
The lights dance on commands
The sharp alarms whip me from sleep
I hold true words in my pockets
That I often forget to speak,
I keep certain holes un-filled
In the floor of my skull
So these happy thoughts won’t overfill
And spill when I fall
Instead I can hold some
Use them for warmth
Cause my cold feet, still feel this floor
I need to hold something for heat
Cause this heat is not enough
Take a breath
Breathe a breath
The condensation on window
Tells me its colder outside
Take a breath
Lock the door
Sometimes it better to go out into the world
Instead of having it set foot on this hardwood floor
